Extended abstracts

In the context of MiPevents and MitoEAGLE events, extended abstracts are accepted for preprint publication in MitoFit Preprint Archives upon evaluation by MitoEAGLE MC members. Publishing extended abstracts with MitoFit Preprint Archives does not preclude later full journal publication, but will make your work fully citable, by assigning each manuscript a unique DOI number, and facilitate discovery and feedback.

Upcoming events

» MiPschool Coimbra 2019: MitoEAGLE scholarships are offered to fully support participation of students and young investigators from countries within the European Union. Scholarships will be granted to participants with extended abstracts submitted in advance, evaluated by MitoEAGLE MC members, and accepted for preprint publication in MitoFit Preprint Archives.

Concept

The concept of extended abstracts can be compared to Transplantation Proceedings, in which short manuscripts with up to two printed pages are selected for publication, and for oral or poster presentation at the respective conference.

Format of extended abstracts

Font: Verdana
Spacing: Set page size to A4, margins: 2 cm left, 2 cm right
Title: (bold, font size 12 pt)
Use capital letters in the title only where necessary. Add a dot at the end.
Authors: (font size 10 pt)
Presenting author's surname + first name (+ initials of additional first name), underlined, e.g. Smith Jane F
Co-authors' surname + initials. e.g. Sanders HF
If authors are based at different institutions provide a superscript to indicate their affiliations and use a comma without space to separate numbers.
Affiliations: (italic, font size 10 pt)
Separate affiliations by semicolons and link to authors using superscripts, e.g. 1Dept VW, Univ XY; 2Dept TU, Univ Z
Use abbreviations for Department, University, etc. (Dept, Univ)
Presenting author's email address is given at the end of all affiliations and is not underlined
Main text: (font size 10 pt, justification)
Structured in paragraphs with headers for each section, use 5 mm tabs
Sections:
(1) Introduction: Should not be longer than one paragraph providing an appropriate background for the research work.
(2) Methods: The methods should provide enough detail of all the procedures used in the extended abstract to allow the reproducibility of the presented research. We encourage authors to provide information related to the experimental design as suggested in ARRIVE and NIH guidelines (e.g., information about replicates, randomization, blinding, sample size, and the criteria for inclusion and exclusion of any data or subjects).
(3) Results and discussion: The results should be clear and concise. The discussion should be precise and not longer than one or two short paragraphs.
References: (font size 8 pt)
Provide up to seven references
Cite references in the text by sequential numbers given in brackets, e.g., [1]
Reference format sample:
1. Doerrier C, Garcia-Souza LF, Krumschnabel G, Wohlfarter Y, Mészáros AT, Gnaiger E (2018) High-Resolution FluoRespirometry and OXPHOS protocols for human cells, permeabilized fibers from small biopsies of muscle, and isolated mitochondria. Methods Mol Biol 1782:31-70.
Figures and tables:
Include up to two figures/tables with short captions

Submission

Send your extended abstract as a doc file and pdf file to: [email protected]
Like all MitoFit Preprint Archives papers, these must not be published before posting to MitoFit Preprint Archives, but may be submitted for journal publication as an independent paper or as part of a more extended journal publication. By comparison, arXiv rejects abstracts that are submitted without accompanying paper.
