Abstract: STUDIES of mitochondrial bioenergetics yield a quantitative assessment of cell injury after organ storage.1-4 To reduce artifacts of mitochondrial isolation, we optimized high-resolution respirometry with permeabilized cells and muscle fibers for investigation of mitochondrial cold ischemia/reperfusion (CIR) injury.
