MitoFit-pre: an online preprint journal in evolution

  • Started 2019-Jan/Feb (in preparation), inspired by the classic Preprint server arXiv, which is frequently cited in the following text.
  • Covered areas include Mitochondrial physiology, Bioenergetics, Ergodynamics, ..
  • Hosted, maintained and operated by the MitoFit DOI Data Center (http://www.mitofit.org) with guidance by the MitoFit-pre member advisory board, which shall consist of scientific organizations and consortia, such as, The Mitochondrial Physiology Society, COST Action MitoEAGLE, and others.
  • Disclaimer: 'Papers will be entered in the listings in order of receipt on an impartial basis and appearance of a paper is not intended in any way to convey tacit approval of its assumptions, methods, or conclusions by any agent (electronic, mechanical, or other). We reserve the right to reject any inappropriate submissions' (citation from arXiv).
  • Free online archive and distribution service for unpublished preprints in mitochondrial physiology and bioenergetics. It is operated by the science team of Oroboros Instruments. Before posting preprints on MitoFit-pre, authors should clarify if the journal intended for final publication accepts manuscripts published Open-Access as preprints.
  • Once a DOI number has been assigned to a preprint including supplementary material, it cannot be changed, except for comments posted on the preprint page. An updated version can be posted, which will receive a new DOI number, while the preprint with the original DOI number will remain available, traceable, and citable.
  • While arXiv rejects abstracts that are submitted without accompanying paper, MitoFit-pre considers extended abstracts (including references) acceptable.

Scope of Mitochondrial Physiology Network

Contributions to Bioblast emphasize definitions of terms used in mitochondrial physiology. Simple entries into MitoPedia may develop into specific articles, which then are highlighted as a MiPNet publication, listing the responsible author and the date of the last edition of the page. The MiPNet publication is automatically listed in the respective author's Bioblast page and in the present journal page. Multi-authored articles are encouraged as well as a specification of author contributions. Contributions to the discussion are welcome and are accepted by the editor and the authors of the article. Any conflict of interest should be stated either explicitly in the article or implicitly in the affiliations on the author's Bioblast page.
In science, authorship is not only considered important for an individual scientific career, funding and reputation. Authorship transmits information to the reader, and carries responsibility. Since the Bioblast wiki is designed as a scientific website, therefore, we add author information explicitly, in addition to the track record provided by 'View history'. The latter shows all details, including typo corrections and layout (but may show only the editor that added information in the name of another author), whereas explicit authorship relates to scientific responsibility and intellectual property.
The success of an article may be rated by the number of times the page has been accessed. A track-record is provided on the discussion page.

MitoFit-pre Scientific Advisory Board

We cordially invite scientists to join the MitoFit editorial team.

Submission

  • At present we accept submission of papers as pdf files, accompanied by the abstract as a word document.
