Description
The mitochondrial inner membrane is the structure harboring the membrane-bound electron transfer pathway including the respiratory complexes working as proton pumps, several substrate transporters involved in the Electron transfer pathway, and the mt-phosphorylation system. The mt-membrane potential and proton gradient (collectively the proton motive force) are generated across the mtIM.
Abbreviation: mtIM
