Palmitoylcarnitine

Description

Palmitoyl carnitine is an ester derivative of carnitine (long-chain acylcarnitine) involved in the metabolism of fatty acids. Within the cell, palmitoylcarnitine is transported into the mitochondria to deliver palmitate for fatty acid oxidation and energy production.

Application in HRR

Pal: Palmitoyl carnitine (Palmitoyl-DL-carnitine-HCl, C23H45N04HCl); Sigma P 4509, 100 mg, store at -20 ยฐC; FW = 436.1

Preparation of 10 mM stock solution (dissolved in H2O):

1) weigh 8.72 mg of palmitoyl carnitine
2) dissolve in 2 ml H2O
3) divide into 0.2 ml portions
4) store frozen at -20 ยฐC
