S/NS pathway control ratio

Description

The CII/CI+II substrate control ratio is obtained when rotenone (Rot) is added to CI+II-linked respiration in a defined coupling state. The reversed protocol, adding CI-linked substrates to a CII-linked background state does not provide a valid estimation of CII-linked respiration with succinate in the absence of Rot, since oxaloacetate accumulates as a potent inhibitor of succinate dehydrogenase (CII).
